I work in the Geo seismic Industry and have done so for over 8 Years. The World Oil reserves are running low. We must turn our attention to Wind and Solar if we must continue Our lifestyle as it is. The resources are running LOW. It is up to every Govt. To help as much as they can. More money for research and development into new power generation instead of lower Petrol prices. Petroleum is not a finite commodity. It is up to us all to do something to save our Planet.

Reality check time! None of the political parties will reduce, let alone remove, the excise or the GST. There is too much at stake - billions Federally to pay for all the pork barrelling, and hundreds of milions to State Government's through GST revenues. At a time of drought, when Australia's so-called economic prosperity rests precariously on the resources boom (and China in particular), it would take someone truely committed to the well-being of Australians to address this issue. Unfortunately we are being served (?) by mediocrity and self-interest on both sides of politics and at both Federal and State level.

Labour must remove the excise tax on oil products so that the people will support it in the election.

They will never remove excise, in Australia excise makes up a massive portion of the petrol price, but one would hope that they will lower it significantly.

A proper, thourough ACCC investigation into why prices are so ridiculous atm wouldn't hurt either...

Good Question, i hope one of them do it cost me $75.00 to fill up, and about $100.00 per week, i claim 90% back as a tax deduction, but it does hurt the hip pocket. It's still the foreighn owned fuel companies that profit most though, the ACCC needs to step in.
