That's the mysterious way of the human mind. We also walk into a room and forget why we went there, return to wherever we were, suddenly remember what we wanted, then return to the room. Repeat as often as necessary.
We also strain our brains for someone's name, a song title, or some such bit of trivia. But, it won't come to mind! "It's on the tip of my tongue!" we say. Later, while we're doing something else, the answer pops up unbidden, meaning our computer-mind has continued sorting through information while we went about our business. How many people say it out loud, rather like "Eureka!" Then, you have to explain to the person(s) you're with why you just shouted out this bit of information.
Does any of that sound familiar? I think that the average person has to remember so many different things that s/he can't help but run into a mental glitch~some of us more than others. I always say, "Thank goodness for the Edit button!"
