It's bad for the economy and further increases the power and size of an greatly bloated federal government. As far as remembering that people have the right to do whatever they want to their own bodies involves following the Constitution and that is out of style.

Because of the snowball effect. Every time you give the federal government the job of protecting your welfare above and beyond that of which is allowed in the constitution, you strengthen their argument for "protecting" you from the next "danger." What's next? Protecting us from playing football(head/spinal injuries), swimming(drowning), roller skating(broken bones), going outdoors(skin cancer)?
