I don't have any children but I do have a nephew who's in second grade. And I can't help thinking that it's actually harder for him than it was for me. I didn't have to start doing any reports till the 4th grade...when he came home today I found out he had to do a book report...he's in the 2nd grade, it's a short book but still! It seems so young to be doing reports, especially since I was in the same school system and i didn't do any reports till the 4th. I don't maybe it's just me but it seems like 2nd grade is too early. That and crappy television shows (growing up in the late 80's early to mid 90's we had great shows) and more pressure to think about the future rather than being a kid...maybe it's just cause I'm not a parent, just an aunt, or maybe it's because my sis had a baby young thus making me a young aunt, but it seems like he has it much harder.

Never. I make it a point to make things harder for them than I had it. Because I turned out rotten. But I do tell them they'll thank me for it later.

never! i tell them how much easier it was. we actually got to play out at night. even sleep outside. we didn't have as much homework and we weren't overloaded with school, sports and homework all in one day while trying to balance chores and a social life too. kids got it tough now.

None... Everyone has problems, and nobody learns from other people's problems.
