Never....

...the show was too expensive and the ratings were too low.

That is why the second season spanned such a great amount of time, cause they felt it necessary to offer some closure since they knew the series was cancelled going in to the second season.

It's a shame really, I liked the first season, but the second really suffered from the spread out plot. Not to mention that Pullo and the other guy (cant remember name) seemed to have been given rather unlikely paths for their characters to follow, seemed a little convoluted.

This is the problem these days. Get anything half descent on TV like "Rome" and it doesn;t last beyond 2 series.
Put on a load of carp like Big Brother and it gets a run of 8 series. There's no justice in the world.

I was a massive fan of the first, but they just didn’t seem to put the effort in for Season two, alright the glitz and the glamour was there but where was the substance? The story was tedious and I can’t say I was interested in it in the least, whilst season one kept my interest from start to finish.

I think it was obvious throughout the series there wouldn’t be a season 3. It’s a shame, they could of done so much more with it.
