Okay, everyone get this straight! A lot of people are saying you should choose the "correct" spelling - Rebecca, or saying they like the different, unusual spelling - Rebekah.

Actually the spelling Rebekah is not a cutesy or trendy spelling - it's actually the classic BIBLICAL spelling of the name - it's from the bible for God's sake! (pun intended! ha!) Intelligent, educated people know this so don't listen to all the morons that say everyone will always spell it incorrectly - this is coming from people whose favorite names are probably Denver, Madison, Avery, Riley, etc. I detest trendy names (in 25 years they will be very dated) - Rebekah won't which is why I like it. She also won't have to worry about being the 4th Mikayla in her class - all spelled different ways of course - ick.

This info may help you make up your mind. I perfer the original (though a lot of dumb people don't know that) spelling
of Rebekah.

Rebekah is more unusual but from a teachers point of view a more difficult spelling will mean that people will spell your name wrong for the rest of your life.I prefer Rebecca

Rebecca...it's easier growing up with a "correctly" spelled name (when I say that I mean most people would choose this way over the other automatically). You can bet that the child will have to re-spell their name for everyone for the rest of their lives if you chose Rebekah.

My mom named my sister Rebekah from the biblical spelling (Mom was a sunday school teacher once upon a time) and my sis absolutely loves it. She says it can be a bit frustrating from time to time but she adores the fact that she's a bit different and that her name is both modern and old-fashioned at the same time.

Either way it beats being a child of the late 70's named Amanda... *ugh*
