You reciprocate the second rational expression... with polynomials
For example
2X-4 / (divided by) 5X+10
-----------------------------------
4X-6 / (divided by) 6X-12
You change it to a multiplication problem meaning, you turn the second rational expression into a reciprocal
2X-4 * (multiplied by) 6X-12
---------------------------------------
4X-6 * (multiplied by) 5X+10
****Note this is just an example
Turns out to be
2(X-2) * 6(X-2)
-------------------------------
2(2X-3) * 5(X+2)
Nothing can be canceled so it stays
12(X-2) (X-2)
---------------------
10(2X-3) (X+2)
Not a good example as far as the numbers go but i hope you get it
But to be more simple
3 8
-- /-----
4 6
will be
3 6
--- *----
4 8
Reciprocal means to switch the second set of numbers
equaling out to be
18
----
24
reducing to be
9

12
reducing to be
3

As an example, 9/4 and 3/2 are rational numbers:-
(9/4) / (3/2)
= (9/4) x (2/3)
= 18/12
= 3/2
= 1½

Example:
1/2 / 3/4 = 1*4 / 2*3 = 4/6
then we multiply by 1=2/2
(dividing the 4 by 2
and the 6 by 2
ending up with 2/3 !!!
If you have them as written,
one fraction next to the other:
it is the top by the bottom up=4
and the bottom by the top down=6
If you have them one fraction under the other:
the out's (top by the bottom) on top
and the in's (the bottom by thre top) on bottom.
Resulting the same!
Hope this wioll clarify teh doubts.
Keep up with good work!

Rational numbers are fractions. Dividing rational numbers is comparable to dividing, or dividing by using, fractions. In worry-loose college, you had a rule that stated "whilst dividing by using a fragment, invert the denominator and multiply". this is all there is to it. this is purely that in the time of algebra, because of the fact of all of the letters and stuff, it seems extra complicated. undergo in ideas that the letters and communities of letters characterize numbers.
