Restarting a computer is called rebooting. It can be either
Hard reboot (or)
Soft reboot

Hard reboot
Restarting your computer without any shutdown procedure performed. Eg. Switch your conputers power supply off and on.

Soft reboot
Restarting your computer under complete software control.

We also do have some unintended reboots which might be due to some software or hardware problems.
