I've had this interest in Soviet paraphanalia for about 6 months, and I have come to really enjoy the music. Anyone else fascinated by it? Or am I just weird?

No you are not weird. Many people love Shostakovich and Prokofiev to name the two most famous composers of the Soviet era. Kabalevsky wrote some good music as well - his 'Red Poppy' ballet is a hoot in places, sending up what was seen as decadent dance music like the foxtrot. Miaskovsky is being heard more and more with at least one recording company trying to work through all his symphonies.

The light music they played on Radio Moscow was similar to the watered down jazz allowed under the Nazis.
The boigraphy of Dean Reed the Soviet rock star is very interesting.
