I haven't tried it, but I assume that the answer is that you cannot. PC versions of the Halo games were/are gong to be released, so what would be the point of making them if anyone could just buy the 360 verison.

Halo 2 is for Xbox 1 (but can be played on 260 thanks to the backwards compatibility). The recently released Halo 3 is for Xbox 360.

However, the Halo 2 for PC was specifically made and rewritten for the PC platform (e.g. you now have Live Achievements like the games on the Xbox 360, and you get better graphics compared to the Xbox version).

It is possible that sometime in the future, Halo 3 will hit the PC, too. But since Halo 2 was just released on the PC a few months ago, don't hold your breath. It will probably take over a year until Halo 3 will come to the PC.

Halo 2 is out for PC (Vista only, though there are hacks available online to make it run on XP, though I wouldn't do that).

Halo 3 is currently 360 exclusive. You can use a free emulator (download one) to play it on a PC, though that'll have problems.
