Hi,

While some people say that we are all different as to what side of the brain we develop more, others say that we use both of them at the same time.

I have noticed that it is true about being waaay to analytical. I am so analytical when it comes to study I try to memorize everything so eventually I become a "robot" as some people call me. Even telling joke is mechanical. So being analytical in some aspects of daily life gets on the way for me at times.

I like being analytical specially when calculating and working but a times it prevents me from enjoying life... so what is the best way to develop your non analytical side?

Take care!

As an artist, I am supposed to be very right brained and creative and out there, off the wall insane, but i found that i had troubble in art school because I was too analytical. i broke things down into small pieces, took problems on one at a time and I actually managed to come to conclusions in my artist statements!

I wouldnt say that i am an analytical person, i am just less right brained than many of my peers were.

If you want to become less analytical, I would recommend studying the arts, philosophy, fine art, language, history. take up painting. actually read and try to develope an understanding of abstract paintings. how to you represend a feeling or emotion or idea without using words or recognizable images?
foucoult or Neitzsche are good pholosophers to look at. stay away from Derrida, unless you want your head to really hurt trying to figure out what he is talking about.
or read up on some literary criticism.

Here is a good trick to remember:
if you were to tell your parents "I want to go to college to study ..........."
and they respond with "No way, you will never get a job doing that! whats the point of .........." then you have found a subject that will help your non-analytical skills.

a phrase i have heard "try to fucus on the spirit, not the letter."

I would think that you should use that side of the brain more, expose yourself to the creative parts of the world. Find a way to expose yourself to art and music, try to write your thoughts down more. Read more books magazines and novels. You need to expose yourself to the side of the world that you don't usually get to see. Go to a museum and look at the art both the modern art and the art of Artist like Michelangelo and Van Gogh, look at the art of the impressionists Like Monet and Manet. Listen to music that you're not used to like maybe Betthoven or Mozart, IF you do listen to the classics than listen to music from the 40's or Jazz. Expose yourself to cultures that you're not familiar with. These things should help you to develop that part of the brain that deals with creativity.

It gets developed through relaxation. The problem with our productive mind is that it gets so focused and so much momentum going that it crushes the more subtle, unified aspects of experience.
