hard to say cause freedoms not really concrete. its like liquid, it constantly flows and shifts depending on how society defines certain concepts and what social or personal forces come into play, thats why freedoms considered an abstract concept, like love or hate

Freedom in a literal sense is real. You have the freedom to do as you will. The limitations imposed upon freedom are introduced by societal needs and conditions that curtail your ability to exercise that freedom.
For example, you have the freedom to say what you want. However society says that you are not allowed to commit perjury, slander or libel. You have the freedom to kill another person, yet society dictates that you cannot kill unless your life is in imminent danger and that it is necessary to do so.

Yes. It is something we all worked hard at, something we fought for (well our fathers did), something we continue to fight for in every part of our lives.
Certainly in the west (US, UK, Canada, Australia, Europe etc) we enjoy unrivaled levels of freedom.

But remember,
1) Freedom is an agreement not a right and not a privelidge. You make with others in your society to uphold principles of tolerance and support for each other.

2) Freedom is granted by the same people who can take it away.

Freedom independence license to do as one wants. Freedom is what you make of it. If you feel there is no absolute freedom than in your mind it does not exist. If you feel that just being able to dream and have thoughts that are of your own mind your own soul than you have absolute freedom. And no one but you can take that way.

here are some simple tasks for you to see if you have freedom.

go to a middle eastern country and start inflammatory remarks about islam. let's see how fast you catch a bullet in your head.

go to china and publicly pass out pro-democracy pamphlets and see how fast you get publicly executed.

go to north korea and denounce kim jung il as a sadistic little tyrant dictator and see how fast you get tortured to a slow death.

here in america, we can:

publicly burn the american flag. denounce the president as an idiot. practice any religion freely.

anyone of you who live in this great country called america feel that they are not free...need to get the f-u-c-k out and try living 'freely' in another country.

i am sick of narrow minded idiots who constantly have no idea what freedom is. people living in this country who do not know that they are free has ZERO life experience, ZERO appreciation of the sacrifices of our troops, ZERO appreciation of the society created by amazingly intelligent and dedicated individuals that face public ridicule by morons like YOU!

Its real in my head. Its real to a degree in this world, but the freedom I acknowledge in my mind will allow me to experience the growth and joy I desire.

Relax JKK, you are limiting your own freedom by the adversaries you create.

You are as free as your mind allows you to be. Americans allow their minds to be more free so they are.

I know because I travel and have taught English in 5 countries. I can't believe some of people's beliefs.

Think free.

Freedom is just an illusion placed by the institutions around us to maintain the status quo. By embracing our freedom, we actually conform.

Freedom, like everything else, has its limitations.
