When driving though an intersection of a residential street and a main street, where the residential street's speed limit is 25 mph and the main street's speed limit is 35 mph, how fast do you go in the intersection?

That all depends on how many pedestrians are in the intersection. I usually slow to around 70 miles per hour to give them half a chance of survival.

You go the speed of whichever road you are on. If you are on the residential street going through the intersection to the rest of the residential street your speed should not change or go above 25 mph. If you are turning off of the main street onto the residential street you should slow down.
