if do by a pro just get them back to fix the problem. if you cleaned it your self call a pro to take care of it for you. most of the chemicals that will fix the problem are to dangerous to keep in the home. the smell is coming from under the carpet so nothing on top will work vinegar, baking soda, frabrez etc. the carpet and pad(pads the problem) need to be lifted but a pro can fix it with out removing the carpet.

Sprinkle the spot with baking soda. Work it into the nap & make sure the whole area is covered. Leave it in for a couple of hours. Let it be stepped on, walked on, etc. Just don't let it get wet . Vacuum it up. The soda will absorb a lot of the odor. Repeat if necessary.

Have you thought of spraying it with fabric freshener?

Vinegar has enzymes that break down the odor, test an area first to make sure it doesn't damage the carpet, and just used a 50/50 - scrub it in, let it sit a little while, and soak it up - repeat as needed... There is also a carpet cleaner you can get at the pet supply store. It is called pet-zyme. It also works by breaking down the urine to remove the smell.

baking soda neutralises odors and is used in kitty litter so I'd suggest that first before chemicals. If that doesn't work look for a product designed for pet stains. My daughter is potty training and has had quite a few accideents on the carpet.
febreze also helps

A product called "Natures Miracle" available from pet stores like PETCO or PETSMART will do the job. Guaranteed. Simply spray it on, let sit for 5-10 minutes. wipe with a cloth or sponge. Done. Stain and odor gone.

ok this works for cat or dog pee too. get a spray bottle and some vodka(doesnt have to be expensive vodka, the cheap stuff works just fine). Spray the vodka(undiluted) on smelly spot, sometimes it needs to be treated a couple of times. my sister told me about this one, I was really surprised how well this works.

Ah ha this is right up my alley...lol..I have four kiddos...use vinegar...I swear by it...the vinegar neutralizes the ammonia in the urine...after you have poured straight vinegar on the spot, take a paper town and soak up the remaining liquid. After the spot has dried, pour baking soda on the spot, brush it into the carpet, vaccum and voila....there ya go...

Go to a PET STORE and get a shampoo for pets that gets the odor out---or get a spray designed for that. Either one will work on human urine.

something like Vanish or Oust should do the trick. The problem is steam has not removed the ammonia, a chemical will.
