Sometime ago when i upgraded my PC Hardrive (40G) the PC Technician advised me to split my hardrive into 2 > 20G separate drives in case one crashes , i could still use the other.
Recently i purchased another External HD (80G) as my Drive C ( Main Drive) is running out of space!
How do i combine or undo what was already done ?

With difficulty, you can use utility such as Partition Magic to merge them, ideally if you do, move all the data out of the D: first, delete the partition, then merge them, its a better and faster option.

If you want to keep the data you need a software package like
PARTITION MAGIC . If the drive is new , just run format.exe
from the DOS window. The partitioned drive may not stop the
loss of data but will allow you to keep files or folders more
manageable. Linux requires 4 partitions but three are small. Check EBAY for the software mentioned above.

You can both split and join drives with drive partitioning tools, depending on your operating system there are various options, some free, some not.
For windows based machines you can use programs like partition magic, partition logic. for linux you can use a huge variety of tools. keep in mind you may damage the information on the drive (and most likely will) if you choose to repartition a drive. The only program to my knowledge that avoids damage to
your current OS is partition magic, again i have not tested ALL the tools able to do this, so past that it would be speculation.
