At random times, I'll start burping, and it tastes kind of sulfur-y and usually after a few hours I'll throw up because I cant take the taste. What could it be? Its been happening more often lately but it has happened a couple times in the past. Im wondering if its just acid reflux but Im kinda scared cuz I cant find any other instances like mine on the internet. This is starting to annoy me really bad, and it makes me rather cranky and miserable. Please help me.

Sounds very much like acid reflux... The stomach acid has a bad taste, and I have thrown up before as a side effect to the reflux. I would definitely consult with your physician about getting tested for reflux, and getting on a maintenance medication for it. I wouldn't recommend trying to treat it with tums or pepcid because it sounds like you might have good case of it, and untreated or poorly treated reflux can lead to damage and sores in your esophagus... Until you get to the doc, if you feel this yucky gas/fluid coming up try drinking small amounts of milk, it helps to neutralize the acid in your stomach and keep it down... Good luck.

I had those symptoms which I THOUGHT was acid reflux, for about a year and I just took over the counter meds. The frequency and severity finally got so bad I went to my doctor. He did a procedure that put a scope down my throat and saw damage of my esophagus near the entrance of the stomach. If this goes untreated it can cause cancer. I'm hoping mine didn't get that far.

Sometimes the tissue that keeps stomach fluid from coming back up doesn't close. My treatment is basically to take prevacid to reduce the acid so my esophagus can heal, don't eat before bed because when you lie flat the stomach acid isn't kept in the stomach. I also had to change my diet and just get monitored.

I HOPE yours is just acid reflux but I found out the hardway the same symptoms can have a different diagnosis. Just be very specific with your doctor and get some peace of mind. And MAKE SURE you take something when you feel the burning because that "burning" is damaging the tissue!

Good Luck!

Sounds like it could be.
1] eat small frequent meals [ 1/2 the size, twice as often ]
2] don't eat within 4 hours of bed
3] avoid all greasy, spicy, 'heavy' foods
4] no carbonated or alcoholic beverages
5] no junk food
6] keep a food diary - some people react to dairy, some to certain veg, etc.
7] lose weight - will decrease pressure on abdomen, decreasing the reflux
Try for two weeks - if no improvement, see a doc before your esophagus gets damaged.

There are SO many things this could be.

Sometimes, a person throws up bile - which goes along with gall bladder problems.

Burping can represent different ailments.

Acid reflex can also mimmick several things.

It is best to get yourself checked by a doctor.

I have listed several sites for you to visit. One site helps diagnoses symptoms.
