Damage per second

DPS means damage per second. It is how much damage the weapon average out to per second.

This is the value you really want in a WoW weapon. Higher DPS = more damage, regardless whether or not you are using a high speed/low damage dagger or a low speed/high damage two-handed sword.

Rouges and Warlocks are the kings of DPS classes. While mages can do more damage per burst, those two can lay on damage constantly, and it adds up fast.

dps = damage per second

higher the DPS the better the weapon. Pretty much dont worry about the speed or normal damage range on a weapon, just it's dps.
