One idea would be DVDs. Another would be wine accessories. These are usually under $20.00. I have also received a cool umbrella that had to be under $20.00. Candles are also a good gift. Some things that are over done would be coffee mugs and chocolate, but those can also be some options.

I'm on a big calendar kick right now, because there are so many adorable unisex calendars out now.

Some favorites:
Cranium Calendar--Each day is another activity, like identifying 6 breeds of dogs in a picture or writing your name with both hands at the same time http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&EAN=9780761146872&itm=1

Bad Dog Calendar

Unforgettable films calendar

Other ideas:
Gift card to Barnes and Noble, Starbucks, Target, Best Buy--anywhere where $20 can buy something useful.

Some nice gourmet cocoa (the kind you get at gourmet shops) or chocolate

As it gets closer to the holidays, stores like Target sell great gift packs, like a Make Your Own S'Mores set or a set of chocolate-covered cookies.

Hershey's Kiss-shaped fondue kit from Linens' N Things, plus some extra chocolate.

Gift cards (but make sure that the gift receipient has that store in his/her town). I have always loved and appreciated them because I get to pick the exact item I want and no gift card has ever ended up in the attic. Unless you are sure that the gift receipient drinks booze, booze is a risky gift (some ppl are recovering alcholics; others just don't drink sometimes bc they are Southern Baptists, sometimes bc they just don't like the taste of booze).

How about a Holy Bible with their names prescribed on it. It helps us remember what we are celebrating.

Alcohol always seems to be appreciated, and for those who don't drink, a homemade treat (not necessarily sweets).
