the real long hose may be a vent hose, and if it is it doesn't get connected to anything, that's how the gas tank gets air,so you might want to ask someone who can see it,but mine has one that comes off the gas cap,and it doesn't connect to anything,it just hangs down between the gas tank and a brace it has on it,good luck with it.

the hose coming off the bottom (petcock) OR the hose that comes off the top (gas cap)???
the one off the bottom is the fuel line that supplies fuel to the carb.
the one off the top is a vent hose so as to not form a vacuum in the tank as the fuel drains out. this hose usually comes off the gas tank cap, and is routed into a hole directly in front of the gas tank where the steering stem comes thru the top triple clamp.
hope that helps!

the vent tube off the top of the tank ususally runs down along the downtube (front of the frame) to a point lower than the motor so that if fuel slops out, it clears the bike and the hot motor and sprays onto the ground rahter than the hot motor causing a fire.
