I wrote this short essay several years ago for fun during Project Greenlight. Please take the time (about a minute) to read this. Or by-pass the opening and go to the short scene and the follow-up translations.

Let me know what you think. I'm never tried to actually write a teen movie. Do you think my approach will work?

Have fun!

Serenity, I didn't use vulgarity when I wrote this. I used substitute made-up words. As to writing something more 'uplifting' you couldn't possibly know whether this was an 'uplifting' or not script from one page of a 90 page screenplay. You might want to read other posts in my Live Journal blog before you lecture me.

I answered this question, but my answer is gone. How strange is that?? Well, as I said before, I think it will work. I was able to follow all the lingo except second row ear, & probably would have gotten it as the story progressed. Who knows, you may start a fad Doc.Thanks
I know I did answer this, I can't be that out of it????? Spooky

Do you remember the book "A Clockwork Orange" by Anthony Burgess? He drew heavily on Russian language for a made up slang. I agree with you that it is not good to use current slang words unless they are extremely prevalent in the culture and the language, or you can create a context around them that makes them clear to the reader. If the movie (book, or play) becomes a classic, it will almost never have a lot of this kind of garbage in it. So if you like, make up some expressions, but keep it really sparse. A reader or viewer should not have to struggle so much with words, as with ideas.
