We have to write our own procedure for how to identify an unknown hydrated salt, but I have no clue how. HELP!!!!!!!

There is a big branch of chemistry called "Analytical chemistry" where you can do experiments to identify an unknown hydrated salt. A course in this chemistry, if you are in chemistry major, may take you a full year to study. But this does not mean that you would not be able to learn some quick techniques to identify some common salts quickly.
