I use to think that having it all was the only way that I could be happy... but in the past few years I have learned so much about myself... when I was married I had it all.. the hubby made great money ... had a beautiful house... two Harley's... new vehicles...but I never saw the hubby...he was working from sun up to sun down.. kinda felt like we were room mates...
After being married for five years .. I sat back one day and realized that this wasn't the way I wanted to live the rest of my life... so we got divorced...
Since then my life has moved on... I'm still single...and being back out in the dating world... I must say I have met some interesting people.. it's amazing how people are looking for that PERFECT match.... and how everyone has a list of what they need to be happy...
It seems alot of people want that so called BIG picture..meaning they want it all.. and they want the best...people fail to realize that getting to that so called BIG picture.. it requires alot of small pictures...
So to answer your question... is having everything really that important... I'm gonna have to say no.. it isn't... I would be happy with that so called 70 %...
It's all material things.. and you can't take it with you when you go... it's kinda funny how some people think that having the best of everything makes them a better person...there is only one thing that makes you who you are... and that is what you feel in your heart.. and without that ... you would be nothing...
So think about it... is it really worth having it all??

I agree with you musicman. I guess the more some people can afford, the bigger and better they want it. Still looks like a status thing more than a need to me. People with money see an area they like, but the homes are modest. They buy the modest house, tear it down, and build a McMansion. It looks pretty silly sitting among the modest homes in the neighborhood. But hey, its America and people just don't care. They want what they want, and do what they want to do.

I think you can end up feeling MORE dissatisfied if you have too much
A happy medium is good
I wouldn't want to live in a 16 bedroom house.....unless I had 15 kids!....I just see it as wasteful when there are whole families living in one room
I do like generous romantic gestures but being brought a cup of tea in bed means the world to me

Definitely not! However, it has become the American way of thinking that bigger is better.
In my opinion, size never matters and yup, the small things in life are sometimes the best.

It depends on the individual person.
Some people prefer simple living.
Other people must have everything .. and the best of everything .. and usually, lots of it.
All of this depends on the value a person holds themselves up to.
One thing money cannot buy, is true love and devotion, from another person. Money truly cannot make this happen. It comes from within the heart.

I'm not sure but bigger homes and etc. sounds like bigger debt to me so it probably is something that some folks bought into
P.S. The American Dream died a miserable death a while ago...

i think a big house is impersonal. I would prefer a small house on very big property. And no matter how far I go in life, I wouldn't drive anything but a truck.

Absolutely. Most people haven't realized that less is more. The more you have, the more complicated (and expensive) life is. Less is liberating. Unfortunately, most people have to go too far before they realize it.

if you are talking of chrome wheels, hell yeah. if most of those boneheads knew how a bigger tire affects velocity, then they would have reconsidered going smaller. lol
anyway, american soceity has embedded a mindset of quantity--more the better. more money, more cars. more cloth, more tvs, more more more.
