I think it's indeed legal. The rule is no numbers in the name or for the name. (Except like III or something at the end to mean the third)
There are celebrities naming their kids weird names.
Moxie CrimeFighter
Banjo
Pilot Inspektor
Apple
Peaches Honeyblossom
Poppy Honey
Diva Muffin
Devo
Cypress
And the list goes on forever...
If they can do that then I don't know why Anonymous would be illegal. I hope no one does that, as I am against all of the names previously listed, but oh well.
Stupid? Yes.
Illegal? No.

Did I miss the memo on the legality of baby names? However, if you do name your child Anonymous... I hope to God he or she grows up with an intact self-esteem. That's just evil to do, I think.

As long as it's a spelled-out name/word (for instance, not "6,789" or "%"), I think the US is fairly liberal in its naming policies. I just heard a woman named "Elegant" referenced on television, so it doesn't seem "Anonymous" would be any worse a random word choice. LOL
So yes, I'm fairly sure that would be "legal" ... though as you already realize, not advisable. ;)

Well if some one can name their kid Hieronymus why can't you name your kid Anonymous. It is a lot better than Ignoramus or Hippopotamus isn't it?

In the U.S. I believe it's legal to name your child anything with letters. If you start getting into numbers or symbols I'm not sure.

Oh, now I see your Details. Darn I already got 2 thumbs down. I think it's legal, but people would be watching you. I know it's impossible to name a kid with numbers in it so, I suppose it's legal.

You can name your child any name you like. My son prior to his adoption was named on his birth certificate: Little.

I guess so. I'd feel sorry for the poor kid though. It'd be like calling your kid Apple.

You can name your child anything you want. It's America. But I would seriously hope no one would be that stupid to name a human being that!
