Have you always been of the religious persuasion you are now (be it Christian, Catholic, Agnostic, Atheist, Buddist, etc.), and if not, what caused the change?

Curious ...

Thanks!

I was born and raised a catholic, and then was a born-again Pentecostal, then a Non-Denominational Christian. Nothing ever ‘felt’ right though. I always thought there was more than organized religion. I had always loved to read and study (about anything and everything) and in these studies, discovered that reincarnation was something I truly believe in (too many reasons to go into here), so now, I believe in a higher entity, but I believe in what a lot of the eastern religions teach as well. I do not believe in a hell-and-damnation God.

I was raised a Baptist but when you grow older you begin to question the world around you. I believe in God but I don't believe that he is the babysitter a lot of religions believe him to be. I subscribe to no particular religion because none are 100% right and a lot of them don't practice what they preach.

Yes,
I've always been a Pagan.
We were encouraged as children to learn
about other religions.
So I went with friends to their vacation bible schools,
Sunday schools, Wednesday night things for youths & teens,
joined several different choirs, because I loved to sing,
but my family practiced a different theme
of religion at home and I was always much
more comfortable with it.
In the Christian & Caholic Churches
as well as the Synogogues & Mosques,
I found hyprocrisy everywhere.
Do this, Don't do this,
If you don't do this you'll go there,
Women were nothing more tha
n what their spouses allowed them to be.
The more I saw, the less I wanted to be there.
So finally, one by one,
I dropped out of their choirs and such.
I even wrote little thank you notes to several,
explaining my reasons for not choosing their faiths.
And so when my kids were little & teens,
I let them go to whatever churches etc,
their hearts desired.
I am so pleased that my children
have all chosen the same family path.
With my youngest daughter, age 16.
The 7th generation of Pagans is still thriving.
We will celebrate this on the Yuletide,
which is the same as the Winter Soltice.

I grew up beliving in god... but I always questioned the christain belief system. I didn't believe there was a hell, I refused to except that same sex couples were wrong even at a young age! And I didn't agree with the navtivity play! I just always believed in love is love, if your a good person you get good back.

As I've got older my values had just become more solid and I dont believe in the tradional god anymore!

I was never fanatic concerning which denomination I should be. I've been to Babtist, Catholic, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, and too many others to remember.

This mini tract changed my mind about certain practices of the Catholic faith, and why I'll never step in a catholic church again: http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0071/0071_01.asp

My mom was once a member of the Eastern Stars. When I gave her this tract, she immediately quit, and threw away her bible that had the Eastern Star logo on it: http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0093/0093_01.asp
She now goes to some ordinary, generic church now.

Raised Jehovah's Witness. Left there at 18. Never looked back. Don't personally believe in organized religion.

Yep. I've been brought up Christian. I still struggle DAILY with keeping my mind right, but I don't pretend to be better than anyone else because I am NOT!!!!

I can't stand a Christian that doesn't realize that "There but for the grace of God"---GOES EVERY DAMN BODY!

Sorry about that.
Just something I feel very strongly about...

No. I have changed. I believe in Native American religion. I believe in the Creator but he is much different than what most people believe in. I changed my beliefs because of what I saw going on around me and knowing my Native American heritage. It was the logical thing to do.

Use to be Christian but I grew out of fairy tales like I did with Santa. Why? Religion makes no sense what-so-ever.

I'm atheist by the way :P

Always knew there was a God, was always curious about Jesus since I was a little kid. Started going to church in my teens, but still didn't get it. Finally became a Christian at 27 years old.

I've always been the kind of person that believes in God but I don't go to church or devote my life of time to any specific religion.
