It sounds like your definition of true love requires some reciprocation, which is actually a fair expectation. Love without reciprocation is called "compassion" or "charity." The question you have to ask yourself is, how much charity are you willing and capable of giving, before you have nothing left for yourself?

well, i've had the exact same experience and that person may never know or will never know how you truly feel about him/her... but all you can do is keep them in your memory and love them even if they don't love you back....
you can never really give up on them...i've tried to forget them....but i still can't, anyway...!! You never really stop thinking about them, - how it could've been/ could be ... but remember...always keep some sort of rememberance about them....
even though you can never forget that person....

I think so. to be truly in love with a person you have to have your feelings validated in order to grow.......this is the way my mind and body are made....we are talking about in love right? Because you can love people who don't love you....romantic love isn't like that...if you don't get the love back it then is a fantasy.

i don't think that that is true but i think that you can love a person more if they love you back. it just makes it easier if they love you back. when they love you back it's basically just an added bonus to how amazing they already are.

Love asks for nothing in return. You can love someone without them loving you.

No, that's not really love. That's infatuation resulting from pathetic desperation. Get some self-esteem.

Uhmmmm! it really depends on the person. If I loved someone and they rejected my feelings towards them. I just walk away. I do not have time for their bulshit. As simple as that.

Yes, it's true. Ask any birth parent that has ever given their child up for adoption. They'll tell you.
