Alcoholic! How many times do you hear about someone being killed by a driver high on marijuana? How many times do you hear about a wife that got beat by a husband high on marijuana?

I believe marijuana is only illegal because of the sterotypes that go along with those who smoke "weed"

Here's something else to think about...a person cannot become physically addicted to marijuana like they can to alcohol...alcoholics become physically ill if they dont drink and need to go to detox/rehab to come off the alcohol...marijuana is only psycologically addictive, no one is going to go through withdrawal if they dont get to smoke they're joint for the day

To me alcoholics are definitely worse...just go to a bar on a Saturday night...look how drunk people act...they're crazy!!!

That is a very disgusting thing to compare an alcoholic with a pothead. Would you ask a question like..."whats worse someone with cancer or a pothead?" Your question is exactly the same as that one. Someone with alcoholism is no different than someone with cancer. Do you not realize that an alcoholic has a disease? Potheads merely have an addiction, and it is an addiction that is easier to get rid of compared to alcoholism. An alcoholic can go into sobriety but they can never completely "get rid" of their problem. Potheads were not born with the urge to smoke pot, they CHOSE it.

And for the people that make generalizations saying that alcoholics are angry, abusive, kill people while driving, etc. No, not every single alcoholic is like than and besides that, potheads can be/do the very same. Cesar, a few answers down, explained that perfectly.

This question, and the answers have truly made me sick.

Weed is almost more dangerous because it takes so long to realize you are heading downhill, most people don't feel it for 2-3 years, so kids think its all good :(

These addictions are sometimes caused by undiagnosed mental illness as a way of temporary 'self help', I've done both and I'm still young. (I've used but never got stuck on most harder stuff) -I think they don't relate to the depression/anxiety/bipolar type conditions

The alcoholic hurts short-term, maybe ending in liver which end the addiction -like when you get sick off something and cant even stand the smell. For me I feel a pain in my liver when I smell strong stuff like vodka etc

The weed smoker (psychological addict) slowly falls into depression over a couple of years (i think intelligence plays a part) -then withdrawals from society, -maybe turning to living off government benefits alone and sad. (not me yet, I'm off for a moment after sum heavy seizures.

ask my mother my dads a ***** complete total die hard drunk and i am a pothead. she lives wit us both. an shes strait... she tells me that alcohol is worse just look at an alcoholic and look at a pothead. i think alcohol should take marijuana's place as being an illegal substance and marijuana should be treated as any other gift from god. u cant tell me that we created marijuana when it has recorded use since back to biblical times. and alcohol is made by man and hell it causes more deaths rapes and burglaries and violent assaults than marijuana. and yet there are numerous educated documented proof that marijuana also aids in healing of numerous ailments. what does alcohol aid in healing other than the sterilization of instruments an such... watch the video

an alcoholic, potheads generally chill out but if you have ever been around a raging alcoholic you will know the difference, always become superman when they drink, talk alot of trash, get all emotional, think they can do anything, severe mood swings

Alcoholics - Angry and Violent
Potheads - Mellow and Peaceful

Alcoholics - worried about when they are going to get their next round of drinks (or bottle of Wild Turkey)...

Potheads - only worried about running out to 7-11 at 4:00am to get more Cheetos...

an alcoholic; potheads tend to know or realize that they are addicted to pot. whether they choose to seek help for that abuse is another question.

alcoholics, on the hand, tend to be more destructive (physically, mentally, sexually, emtionally, etc.) and their behavior tends to affect others more. you dont really see or hear of many cases in which a pothead beats up his wife in a purple-haze phase, but it more often occurs in drunken rages

Both of them are bad, I think as far as the way they treat you a weed user is nicer because alcoholic gets mean and wants to fight you, wants to beat you for no reason. A pot head gets happy so really both are a pain in the behind.

i am going to say an alcoholic. getting up everyday, they start drinking from early morning till late in the night, get up and drive still drunk. alcohol effects are stronger and more dangerous than pot imo. marijuana smokers ive been around dont get violent or are easily agitated like an alcoholic. even former alcoholics seem like its easier for them to fly off the handle. just personal observations ive made.
