I grew up watching the American League, so im very familiar with the likes of Jeter, A-rod, Tejada, and Ripken. Year and and Year out, Omar beat them out for the Golden Glove award. Omar even has comparable OBP and batting average as Cal Ripken, though all the other numbers are very different with Omar being the Craftier hitter and Cal being a more of a power/RBI hitter.......... So being a dominent short stop defensively and a solid hitter i put him in contention for HOF.... THEN... I wish i could have seen Ozzie play more, because i am always comparing every possible statistic, and Omar has far better defensive statistics and better offensive statistics than ozzie, who is a hall of famer. I know more goes into defense than Statistics, but they obviously show that he was in the same league as Ozzie, and a better offensive player than ozzie (other than he had a fewer steals). I think omar deserves to be in the hall of fame... do you?

Seeing as Ozzie Smith is a corridor of famer strictly on protecting awareness i could could a hundred% say Omar Vizquel gets into the corridor of repute. Will he a be a regularly occurring time pollwinner, according to danger no longer. at the same time as he has a greater useful Fielding PCT than Ozzie Smith, Ozzie became into an icon for the sport for the period of his enjoying time, Vizquel isn't and can desire to consequence whilst he gets into the corridor yet he is going in there.

I love Visquel, being an Indians fan..but it will be hard for him...He will run up against the era for SS, Ripken, Arod, Jeter, etc etc. He is this generations Luis Aparicho, which is in the HOF. Yes I want him in, yes he deserves it...but will he be in...I would be surprised if he makes it. He will be competing with 500 homer guys, Guys with 300 wins and multiple Cy Youngs, etc etc. His best hope is to hang around and get 3000 hits if he can. I say this and hope Im wrong but I doubt it....He will be the best SS not to get in and join the ranks of Gil Hodges, Ron Santo, Jim Kaat as the best not to be in Cooperstown

Vizquel has been a dominant defensive player. He has 2,598 hits (which is a lot for such a great defensive player) and he is a career .274 hitter. He has been very consistent throughout his whole career. He may not make it first ballot but he will be in for sure.

Absolutely, his years in Cleveland alone should give him a place in the Hall of Fame.

A complete joy to watch as Short Stop!

If he doesn't make it in the HofF there is no justice in this world!
