For the pill to be at maximum protection, she has to be taking it every single day at the exact same time - if she isn't the protection the pill offers is reduced. Usually after a full cycle of the pill (including her period) it's in full effect if she's taking it properly.

Honestly, dude? Still use condoms. I know too many girls who've gotten pregnant while on the pill - I have three nieces and nephews as proof of it! Get the thin, lubed ones so the sensation is still good. I know you'd rather go bareback, but it's not worth it unless you're seriously committed and willing to accept the responsibility for kids. Besides, condoms seriously help keep your sheets clean. I don't know about you, but sleeping in sex stained sheets is kinda nasty the next night - and changing/ washing them all the time isn't fun.

Something to think about anyway, ultimately talk to your girl.

Honestly for some women the pill doesn't work. I've heard and known many women that get pregnant while on the pill so if you really aren't ready at all to be a daddy then take another precaution and the pill.

Anyway to your real question I've heard that for some women it takes about 3 months for the pill to really start working. Good Luck and Be Safe

The pill is 99% effective when taken properly, and your gf has taken it properly.

The pill doesn't protect from STDs, though. If you want to do that, condoms are the rx.
