There are times of crisis when democratic institutions need to be reined in to preserve it into the future. The American Civil War, and the World Wars are examples. We are in one of those times of crisis right now. The existence of western civilization is at stake, nothing could be more important than preserving it.
The last time a civilization advanced to the degree we have was the Romans. When Rome fell, the dark ages followed.
How could that be appealing to anyone? Lets get it right this time. We must defend ourselves from the barbarians.

I think a better question would be. How many Democrats would sacrifice democracy if it meant a socialist utopia? Apparenty lots of 'em in the upper teir of America's present day Democratic Party, and your kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

True conservatives would never sacrifice democracy, even if it means getting rid of the libs. But we'd probably give up just about everything else to get rid of them.

Maybe you need to ask the democrats that very question. most republicans I know want democracy. It seems the democrats want what Russia failed to do and you still want to blame republicans on that. Democrats wont learn and dont seem to care. They want to destroy this country as fast as they can.

We are not supposed to be a democracy, we are supposed to be a Republic. Democracy is mob rule, and is is easily corruptible, hence that is what we have become.
