I would hesitate to guess on the exact number of atheists on the planet who's beliefs are in tune with what you said. But I would imagine that it is growing number, I mean look at all the major religions 1000 years ago they all offered a quick and easy to understand insight into the workings of the heavens and earth and a individuals place in that world. but over the century's the foundations of these institutions have been challenged and changed to suite various social factors. and then we see the dawn of athiesim. With logic as the weapon and science as the bullets the leading minds of this belief take to mowing down religious dogma of all who stand before them. Seeking to find truth within our universe and once found letting the masses know about the heavens and earth and ones place within it. mabey its that atheism is a new and easy pill to swallow than others but its still the same formula just a different flavor. Being that most of the first world countries live in a "On Demand" lifestyle its a little easier to subscribe too. Hope that helped even if I did go off a little.

Atheists are different from most people because they are not religious in the sense that God is the creator. Or that organized religion is the best way to live. They are politically in the minority. But the group is getting bigger as more and more people give up on religion. But more and more people are giving up on humanity. An Atheist will never give up on humanity. The apathy that is greatly against religion and humanity is borne out of hate and fear and grief. People are not being asked to believe what is wrong with the Atheist. But they are being blamed for a problem that has nothing to do with them. I don't think there are that many atheists in the world.

Well I'm not judging but I do believe in god there is another side called heaven and I believe that anythings possible and the universe wasn't just some random accident and that there is a reason that we're all here and that someone created all of us and I feel bad for people like atheists because everyone has to have something to believe in and its sad that you don't have any faith.

Atheists don't believe in God. Its not that they think everything is "purposeless", they just base their beliefs on scientific evidence, it began during the enlightment when thinkers began to move away from church teaching and use science to explain how the world works.
anyway non-religious people make up 16% of the world population
I'm not atheist by the way, but I'm not critical of them in any way.

Um... the belief that the universe was created through natural processes easily explained with mathematic and scientific principles in no way implies belief in "random accidents".
