I think they ARE brainwashing us.
They want us to think we're superior to the rest.
Are we better than the rest? No.
Weren't all men created equal? It says it clearly in the constitution, yet we have immigration laws that say that all men are NOT created equal, and thats why we dont let other people in without some sort of documentation.

Sugar Pie, Thank you. I am somewhat of an anomaly for my generation: educated, child of the 70's, and a patriot. I was born in Michigan nearly 53 years ago; Dwight David Eisenhower was President, and Richard Milhous Nixon was his VP. I saw the terror of nearly going to war with the Soviets (the Cuban Missile Crisis), Vietnam, and the holding of our hostages in Iran. I saw the demise of our credibility under President Carter, and the rise of that same credibility under President Reagan.
I joined the United States Navy in 1983, and was proud (then) to be wearing the uniform, and have been continually proud since then. It is not the US government that is brainwashing the people of this country, it is the old media. The tired, left-leaning, "give peace a chance", imaginists are beleaguering the logical, populist, "straw vote" people into thinking that our current path is divisive to the path of freedom and democracy. Pshaw and balderdash.
We are engaged in a war. It is a war against extremists; Islam extremists, and Arab, at that. I am a warrior; if we cannot define our enemy, then we can be defeated. We are at war with Arab, Islamic, extremists; until we can admit this, publicly, we are at a disadvantage. Go beyond any political correctness, go beyond the "feel good" acceptance of a lamb being led to the slaughter--they want to convert us or kill us, bottom line.
No, I don't think we are being "brainwashed"; but I do think our government should be more forthcoming in its intel and its fight against the Islamist threat to our everyday lives. I think some more people should be braver, and decry the restrictions against free speech that are evident today.
Two more points. There is no better country on earth than the USA. Why would so many people legally, and illegally, try to get here? Whatever our foibles, follies, losses or gains, sins (of omission or otherwise), we are still the best, the brightest star of freedom and democracy. Where else would any expatriate go? Number 2--the US war machine--where did you come up with that crap?
We have a fully volunteer force--noone drafted--and it is phenomenally healthy; healthier that 67% of young Americans who don't even qualify. And our goal is peace: peace through strength. If we are well-trained, have all the latest gadgets, and have a healthy sense of well-being and purpose, we are insurmountable. I have been a leader in this field for many years, and will continue to be such, until I must meld back into the civilian world. But I will never regret my service to my country, and the pride I have had with others who do so.

No but some are brainwashed by the left wing media to believe that the USA is no better than other nations. I have been to other nations, I prefer the USA by far though I did enjoy most of my trips but I am always gld to get back to the USA. Also why do so many people risk their lives to come here and why is the USA immigration lottery always full year after year.

You mean YOU believe this. That doesn't qualify as "some people". Not even if a few of your mates believe the same thing, it still doesn't.
I think you are making a huge generalization saying that US citizens think there is no better country on earth. And honestly there is no reason that someone HAS to immigrate to another country, no matter their opinion of their current country. Why don't you immigrate somewhere else? If you don't immigrate to another country by tomorrow then I guess you are brainwashed too eh?
You can go to any country and find people who are so arrogant that they think they are better than all other people. Are their US citizens that think they are better than all others..yes of course. Do all US people think that way, no they do not. The US has a fecked government, but that does not make US citzens brainwashed. Once there is a new president in office, I am sure things will turn around.

There is no better country on earth but yes lots of people are brain washed by greedy immoral politicians like we have today. I think we get ripped off on our tax contriburions, pay for lots of things that never see the money. Its like we are almost back to the situation we had before the Boston Tea Party. Sad. But I'm not moving. There is a lot here to be thankful for.

US citizens have access to an astonishing range of opinions via the internet, films, books and other media. The US also has a high proportion of college graduates. Those people are (presumably) taught to think independently in college. So, although many folks will undoubtedly buy into whatever idea is currently fashionable, there are also a bunch of other Americans with contrary opinions. In my experience, leading a group of my countrymen anywhere is like herding cats.

;I think it may not be the government but rather much of the media which buys into what the government tells them. It is not necessarily that we are brain washed but rather that we don't investigate for ourselves the news that we hear. For example, how many Americans know that it is possible to go to newsboy.com and read papers from other nations to get a different point of view about news stories - including Pravda, the Russian newspaper, in English? Or how many know that there are so many Americans leaving to live in other countries that there is now a book - sorry I can't recall the name of it - which tells which countries are the best for ex-patriots?
Or even the numbers of groups in various states exploring the possibility of leaving the U.S. and forming independent nations. We are not brainwashed but rather philosophically lazy. Our schools do teach that this is the best country on earth but they also teach that Lincoln freed all slaves - he didn't- and so until we teach children to think for themselves we will continue to have the 8th best nation in the world and not the greatest as shown in the United Nations HDI report as seen in this link - notice how many incidentally are constitutional monarchies!!

dirt, The conflict in Serbia, Northern eire, Sri Lanka, WWII ended. If ever there are nevertheless conflicts, they are moving into the table and compromise. the great question is, will terrorism end a similar way? i do no longer think of so and fairly maximum perpetrators are Islamic. earlier they are killing in uncomplicated terms nonbelievers, now, killing their very own because of the fact their in uncomplicated terms fault is they needed peace and people who desire for peace needs a working government and people who want a central authority does no longer consider their reason and because they do no longer consider violence, they become ineffective to them and the sentence is human bombs. So, in the event that they'd surely objective their non violent muslim brothers and sisters, the extra that Christians must be vigilant and watchful. Kiddo, you fairly have a element. yet i think of no person is listening and in uncomplicated terms see errors from the different element.

When we are fed this global warming tonic all of a sudden when it's been a fact of life for centuries ..all because a certain party wants to raise taxes and control our life , limb & property . meanwhile the inventor of the internet..and the Global warming hoax ,personally uses enough energy in a month to equal more than 20 American households while he expects us to pledge to use more ..The brainwash is not working ..that's why people have been voting Republican .

i think most us citizens are brainwashed...mostly through the use of television. i don't watch television for that very reason. i get my news from outside the united states and i see exactly what's going on. in my opinion, the internet is the best thing that could have ever been invented for a free...and i do mean free....person and a free thinker such as i try to be. i live in the us and it seems that all around me, people are falling victim to this type of brainwashing. most people around here think bush is the greatest man in history. i personally think the whole war machine that is our government are a bunch of lying thieving murdering monsters and i'd love nothing more than for the country to wake up and to try these idiots for the war crimes and the crimes against humanity that they've committed. nothing less will do. i just wish everyone would wake up from this horrible nightmare. what ever happened to our country? what went wrong? this whole place is starting to smell alot like what i've heard about nazi germany. i'm so sorry i even dared to bring children into this place.

Not by their government. Since WW2, the media, especially television, has basically destroyed the capacity for thought in America. It began with the hysteria against communism, and proceeds until today. America is all about mental conformity--and yes, the libs are just as guilty. They just conform to a different political theology.
