What is the scientific notation?! Also, please solve this problem if you can:
Write the number in scientific notation:

the scientific notation is the "shortened" notation. you retain only the number of significant figures and you express the zeroes as powers of ten.. in your problem, there are only 3 significant figures.. so the answer is, 643 x 10^3.. you can also write it as, 64.3 x 10^4 and 6.43 x 10^5.. notice that as the decimal point is moved leftwards, one is added to the exponent of 10.. this is because you would need to multiply it to a larger number to attain the original number, 643000..
