I worked 12-14 hour days up until I was 18 weeks and then still worked 8 hours. Unless you have a note from your doctor they do not have to cut your hours.

Each company has their own policy. I was suppose to wok over time when I was at the end of my pregnancy. I was always so tired I talked to my doctor and he sent a note saying no more then 8 hours a day. Then work said I had to work weekends. I told my doctor and he said no more than 40 hours a week and no more than 8 hours a day. They honored it under FMLA.

I do not think there is any law saying pregnant women cant work a certain amount of hours, although if she is high risk pregnancy the doctor can give her a statement to take to her work to restrict certain things like, less hours, no heavy lifting, etc. the doctor may even state "bedrest" but if she is not high risk then she will probably have regular duties just like everyone else.

its not illegal, but if its too much, a pregnant woman can get a doctor note stating she can only work x amount of hours in a day. Most doctors are good about this and won't deny a requested note.

I work 12 hour shifts and have had two kids. Usually if your doctor thinks you can't handle it, he can restrict your work hours to 8 or even 6 hours. Hopefully your workplace will be compromising with what your hours are.
Good luck.

I think so. I worked 10 hrs up until 37 wks. It sucks, but the only way out of it is a note from your doc & sometimes certain jobs will make the hrs your not working count against your FMLA.

Yeah. Unless the doctor has given you a note to give to them specifying his recommendations for your work schedule. In which case, then no, they can't make you work over that.

I'll just tell you from personal experience that it doesn't make employers too happy if you do that though! LOL... but screw 'em - if they are not sympathetic to your pregnancy, you don't need to work there! But, that's just my opinion.

Good luck.

I haven't heard of it being illegal.. People at my old job at times worked 16 hours.... If it is concerning to you to work those hours speak to your doctor, they can sometimes write a note for light work, and shorter hours.

Wether it is or not I don't think really matters. Your boss should respect you as a worker and a future mother for your own health. I think whoever is making you work those hours needs to re-evaluate them selves. It is just down right rude!!

i think its illeagal to make anyone work more than 12 hours specially if they are on their feet most of the time.
