I find that i lock my car doors in the driveway but dont lock my house door when home. If someone ever decided to walk in i dont know what i would do either. I really should get in the habit of locking the door.

There was one afternoon about a year ago when I parked in the parking lot of my building...
A wide-open parking lot across from a gas station FULL of people and tons of people walking to the public transportation...
And I hit the OPEN button on my car's remote instead of LOCK while walking up the stairs...
I came down with my father TWENTY MINUETS LATER...

And my SUV had been ransacked... EVERYTHING of value had been stolen...
TWENTY MINEUITS and EVERYTHING was gone...
So from there on out I make sure to both hit the lock button on the door as I get out AND hit the LOCK button until my lights flash...
There are FAR too many scum bags in my neighborhood to leave it unlocked for even a few seconds!!

I do...my sister does not. And last night her car was broken into. Nothing was stolen but everything was searched and moved around. Needless to say she locks her car doors now

yeah in NY people like to do that, not only with keys but also chain it to a tree with a combination lock, several layers of duck tape and maybe a cover on top, and make sure you tip a guy at the parking lot to watch out for it.

YES! even though I live in a small town, I don't like to make it easy for anybody. Did you know that your insurance might not cover you if you leave your car doors unlocked? Better be safe than sorry.

No. Believe me people, if a thief wants to steal you car or stereo they will simply break your window.
I live in Ventura, CA and I learned that the hard way with my stereo system. I was more upset about the shattered window than my cheap stereo system.
