what is your opinion? is Mcdonald's and Burger King the reason America's youth is obese. Or is it the parents fault for not teaching their kids good habits? Maybe the kids themselves for not having the self control to get outside and excise. But they don't drive to the place so it is the parents again. But the kids want it, their fault? The places make the food so unhealthy but tasty but are they responsible.

Please post your opinion and why

Fast food restaurants offer a product that that people want! It may not be "good for them" but people have the choice of what they eat! If there was a demand for "healthy food" then someone would open a restaurant that specialized in it!

The reason that the youth today have more obesity has a lot more to do with lifestyle than fast food. Rather than being outside playing games and riding bikes, kids today are driven to "organized activities" that are supervised by adults, and require equipment that is just slightly less than body armor! The kids do not get to run, play and explore, they "have to be protected".

When you are active, you burn calories and build muscle. The kids today are sitting in front of the TV, playing video games, rather than being outside "where it is dangerous". Kids need to be able to be kids!

You can not blame a business for selling something that people want. Are we going to blame gas stations for traffic jams? How about blaming the company who sold you your computer for the time you spend on Yahoo answers?

Parents need to take responsibility for their children, and people in general need to take responsibility for themselves. Quit trying to blame external forces for personal choices!!

Well yes and no.

Fast food joints like that will cause obesity, but it's mostly people's responsibility to treat their bodies right!

It's a little bit of everybody's fault, really. The parents for giving that sick crap to their kids, and the places for serving the stuff. Yeah, I'd say it's mostly the parents if we're just talking about childhood obesity, but I say it's both the people's and the place's fault that America is so obese. I mean obesity can aslo be hereditary.

I think a lot of people are undereducated about this. . . Or maybe they just choose to ignore the facts, I don't know. The fact is that this stuff is VERY bad for you and you shouldn't be eating it. I mean we CAN eat it, but we SHOULDN'T, just because we can do something doesn't mean we should do it.

Conclusion: Paren't should not offer these things to their children, this food shouldn't even be on the market, and kids need to get off their bums and play.

In all honesty, everyone is at fault.

McDonalds is just putting unhealthy food out on the market.

Parents and caregivers, are allowing the consumption of the unhealthy food.

To a certain point, it can be the own child's fault. But at times they might not know better than what they were brought up with.

Its a combination of both. Although i do hate McDonald's with a purple passion! Its the parents fault for giving into there kids wants insted of there needs, and some dont even care what there kids eat. No one is forcing anyone to eat that crap but then again McDonald's put there prices so low that sometimes its hard to go somewhere else. The way McDonald's make their money is by selling lots of it. also so many people stay indoors to play video games insted of going out and doing something.

we're living in a generation where if we want some food we put it in a box for 3 minutes or we have some one else make it. Our jobs involve just pushing buttons and no real "work" at all. Sure you can say the obese are the lazy ones but they are just the obvious. We don't rely on ourselves any more. So if there's anything to blame i think it's technology.

No it's not there fault, they have the food but no one is MAKING you eat it.It's all up to you & what you eat.I think it's also the parents fault because when there lil kids grow up they take them to mcdonalds to get a HAPPY MEAL.My mom did that to me all the time & blame it on all those DANG fast food commercials. They take up most all of the air time on T.V we know they exist why do we need reminders for?

It is absolutely NOT the fault of the fast food restaurants. It ALL boils down to the fault of the watchers of the children.
If the watchers would not be so lazy and actually cook good meals for themselves and their children, And exhibit some self-control, and inject some common sense, then we would not be as obese.

The parents are responsible for what their children eat and are supposed to teach them the "good from the bad". I agree that fast foods are good and I am guilty of eating some of it but that doesn't make it right.

The parents are irresponsible to a point. The point being, when the kids become old enough to understand that they are destroying their bodies and not doing anything to change. Which then makes them lazy. They stay lazy even when people tell them that they are lazy because they are trying to prove to you; in their minds; that you don't know what you are talking about. At least in my opinion and from personal observations.

I think that it is all of these answers (or questions) because the parents are responsible, but so are the kids, and the fast food places (with all of the nasty gross food).
