How could volcanic ash be a sedimentary rock?.....Go read your lab manual again, focus on the igneous and sedimentary chapters.

Bentonite is the right answer for the other criteria.

Volcanic ash solidifies into a rock called tuff, bentonite is a clay which is a sediment but not a rock.
