When buying a harddrive why is it better to buy a 7200 RPM SATA hard drive than to buy a 5400 RPM SATA hard drive?

A 7200 RPM is faster, I assume the last answer was just a typo. Keep in mind, this also means it uses more power, which is a concern if you are buying a laptop. If it is a desktop, no reason at all not to go with the 7200.

it is because of speed. 5400 rpm is definitely faster than 7200 rpm thus, data access from the cpu to the hard drive becomes faster.

rpm = revolutions per minute

RPM is Revolution Per Minute. high RPM hard disks means faster saving and access.
