Most books I have read have already been turned into or are being turned into a movie.
Right now, I'm pretty excited to see if Kite Runner does the book justice when it comes out.

Lone survivor. About a navy seal team in Afghanistan that was ambushed by a force of over 150 Taliban fighters. the 5 man seal team killed more than 100 of them, but eventually all but one were killed. One of the seal team members even after having his chest blown out by a gunshot refused medical treatment and ignored the danger to walk out into the open to get a signal to call in air support for his teammates. He was just awarded the medal of honor.
