I do the night shift with 3 other people at my office and it is very cold around this time. We were wandering what the legal temperature is before we can just walk out due to it being too cold.

The legal minimum working temperature is 16 degrees centigrade.

It is illegal to be made to work under this temperature, under H&S regulations.

I would go to your employer and say you are now giving them seven working days to get the problem solved, otherwise you will refuse to work in those conditions until it is sorted.

If they threaten you with the sack, then you could take them on for constructive dismissal.

It has to be at least 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not say any more to your employer but contact your local Health and Safety. They will can make a surprise visit and will not say who tipped them off or indeed if they were tipped off. They have very suprising powers and do not need an appointment

Labor Standard Laws provide the legal temperature in the workplace and verify it at the local agency in your area of work.
