I have to write a play for my History of Fine Arts class and I'm having a bit of writers block. It must be a minimum of 5 to 7 pages with only two characters, because we must also act it out and there are only two to a group. There is no specific genre set but I don't want anything that is too dramatic. So.. any good ideas?

NO wonder you have writer's block, this is the worst assignment I have ever seen. Don't teachers understand that playwriting is the most difficult of all creative writing? They make me furious! Now. What you want to write is a skit, rather than a play, that frees you from the restrictions of playwriting. (You can call it a play, you teacher won't know the difference.) Pick an event in History of FA that you can create a little scene for . LIke Van Gogh having cut off his ear, or Serat trying to explain pointillism. Or Dali trying to sell his melted watches, stuff like that. The painting of the Mona Lisa, with the model and the artist--now there's a great idea. You could start with her entering the studio to be painted, I believe her husband commissioned the portrait, then arrange for all the preparation for painting, the payment of a fee, the painting, and at the end, the punch line is that Da Vinci says, I'm about finished, now smile!" Good joke, eh?
