This happened to me exactly as you describe. It was old brown discharge. Not much. But I had it most every day and it started early in my pregnancy. It drove me completely insane and my nerves were shot. My doctor kept telling me not to worry. I had many ultrasounds just because I kept calling my obgyn.
I went on to give birth to a perfectly healthy baby boy who was 8 pounds nine ounces. He was two weeks early.
So. Try your best not to worry. I got to a point where i would say OK... it's just brown..not bright red. Nothing to worry about .. and that would ease my mind a bit.
That and I got a calendar and each week that went by I would mark it off and gain a little more confidence.
My son Justin just turned nine years old a few weeks ago. He is a joy. But all that worry ... ooh I can still feel it for you.
Best of luck to you I'm sure that everything will be fine!

I am 36 weeks pregnant and experienced light pink/rusty brown spotting in early pregnancy. Once, I actually had a trickle of old looking blood that felt like I was starting my period, but this only happened once. I had an u/s at 6.5 weeks to check the pregnancy and all was well, baby had a strong heartbeat. On the u/s the dr. pointed out a small accumulation of old blood between the placenta and my uterus and said this was the likely cause of the pink/rusty spotting I saw when I wiped. He judged that I would probably experience the spotting off and on for about 2-3 weeks, which I did. I saw the spotting about ever 2-3 days, and it wasn't an all day thing either, however it did finally stop all together.

Every time I am pregnant I bleed. My first pregnancy DID result in a miscarriage, but I knew that was going to happen because they did an ultrasound and didn't detect a heartbeat. My second pregnancy I started to bleed at 5.5 weeks and didn't stop until 16 weeks...my daughter was a result of that pregnancy. Now I am in my third pregnancy. I started to bleed (red blood gushing and clots) around 9 weeks and continued until around 13 weeks. I am now in my 15th week and everything is fine, no bleeding. Some women just bleed with no explanation. Unless you are having cramping AND red bleeding, I wouldn't worry about it too much. If it continues just keep informing your doctor. That is about all you can do. Good luck!

I had mild bleeding at 7 weeks. The dr said it was a 'threatened miscarriage' and sentenced me to bed rest. It stopped by the next day. It wasn't like menstral bleeding though, it was like creamy pink mucous with red bits streaked through it. I'd realised soon after that I'd lifted a heavy box just before the bleeding started, the doctor said that would do it. But I went on to have a healthy pregnancy (39 weeks) and delivery (9hrs - no complications). My boy is now 11 years old.
I'd recommend not risking it and rest up for the next few days. If you're working, take today and maybe even tomorrow off and just rest. Good luck.

It is really important that you don't become "in another world" about it. Sometimes when that happens you just can't believe it's happening and you might be tempted not to tell the doctor everything. Or you might be tempted not to go to the doctor as well. Please keep in touch with your doctor even if they think you're being a pain. Who cares . Communication is really key. Also stress from the bleeding is not going to help you. I recommend you stay off your feet as much as possible. I have bled while pregnant but my pregnancy didn't make it. I have 3 kids now. But I did miscarry. Miscarriages do happen a lot more often than people think. Remember, feet up and keep in touch with doctor often. I am just a mom not a doctor.

I bled at 6,8,and 10 weeks. Each time usually after going to the bathroom.. never made it to my panties.. just upon wiping. I was told it was very normal. Lots of blood accumulating in the cervical area, and so any tiny bit of pressure (like straining to have a bowel movement) or having sex can cause a small tear and bleeding to show up even days later. If ultrasound is ok and doc. isn't overly concerned, I would bet you'll go on to have a very healthy baby. good luck.

I bled 3 times in the first trimester during the first trimester. It ended up being that I had a small blod clot under the placenta. Everything turned out fine. My doctor told me that when you bleed red in the first trimester you have a 50/50 chance of whether the pregnancy will continue. I found the same info on the web.

I spotted with my 2nd child around 3 months. I was still nursing and thought that it might be related. Now I don't think so. It was on and off for a week or 2. I would encourage you to 1. abstain 2. take it easy, rest. This can be a very anxious experience but emotionally and spiritually take the baby and put it in the hands of God and ask for His protection and care. It is very comforting!
Best Wishes!

I had that problem with my first pregnancy - my son. He is now 12 years old and he's 5'7" 127 pounds! He's a horse!
I hope all goes well with your pregnancy. I do know that a little bleeding can be a normal thing, but I also know that it's something you need to keep checking - stay in contact with your physician - he or she knows best!
Good luck to you and congratulations!!!
