omg its alegal i didnt even know that i just thought copying on to cd was omg well i wont be down loading any of it its showing my kids wrong thing to do omg thanks

To put it frankly, to download music for free would be illegal. Unless you go to Newgrounds.com and get some songs that aren't licensed, you probably can't get any sort of music that's absolutely free. There's Limewire, but again, that would be illegal.
iTunes is good if you have an iPod. Napster if you have an MP3 player. If you don't have a portable non-walkman device, stick to cd's.

well, there's the following:
kazaa
limewire
morpheus
bare share
winmx
bit torrent
etc.
but you kind of have to be computer savvy, so if you don't know much about downloading, it might take some time to leaarn. keep in mind that dowloading music is illegal, so be careful.
if you don't mind paying 99c a song or so, there's always iTunes.
