I am sure there is hotkey but I don't know it. If you are using Windows, go to Start ---- Accessories ---- System Tools ---- Character Map. Then copy and paste the symbol(s) you need.

If you are calculating something, remember that square root is the same as raising something to the 1/2. So use the x^y key and raise it to the 0.5.

Perhaps you want to be able to type the square root symbol? There are a few ways. One way, with Windows, is to use the "Character Map" accessory. On a Mac you can use the "Character Palette".

Don't think there is one on the keyboard. If your using windows 98 and above, go to Start>Programs>Accessories>Calculator> and sqrt is on the standard calculator..

Hold down the "ALT" key and type 251...then release the "ALT" key and the symbol will appear.

if your on microsoft word go to insert then click on symbol then scroll down untill u find it
