Been sheltered causes them to be naive, seek attention and not have any street smarts about them.And live a boring life.

They become unable to make decisions for themselves and if something happens and the parents are no longer there they will be lost, unable to figure out the next step!! I have a nephew that is going through this now!!

They never grow up and become independent. When the parents die , they are left alone to fend for themselves without the proper skills. They may succeed or they may fail, but they have been dealt a raw deal.

they actually lose their identity and the only one they have is the reflection of their parents attitudes - they never grow through the natural separation that occurs when a child enters their teens. that's why the now adult child allows the control.
it's all rooted in guilt, mostly guilt at not being good enough.

It depends on the age, most parents that I know that were strict have loose cannon ball children.

the child will eventually rebel or if they enjoy letting their parents run their lives then they become winey and needy and will have a boring life

i know this answer i had s controling mom i was shy i was afraid to go out even till now im grown i dont trust people i feel disfunctional i had no friends i felt smothered my mom always felt i was retarded but i wasnt i had low self astem
