My friend and I have had a disagreement on this issue and I need help to resolve it.

I said that the LaBrea Tar Pits was NOT the only place where tar seeps out of the ground in Southern California, that in fact there are many places where smaller sepages occur.

She insisted that I was wrong and that there was NO tar except in Northern California. She said that the people who made the documentary about it (where I got my information) must be liars.

Who is right?

When I go to Santa Barbara sometimes there's tons of oil coming out of the ocean. A local told me it naturally seeps oil on different occasions. Don't know if that helps.

There are also spots where oil seeps to surface, probably best known in the Middle East, used by ancient people as fuel, for light, etc.
