Most smaller colleges have policies that if you're on financial aid that you can work on campus.
If you aren't on financial aid, you'll have to work off of campus. It can get hectic if you try to have a job and be involved on campus. If your schedule is odd (meaning you have an 8, 10, 11, and 5:00 class schedule) then you may have trouble.
But it's worth it and you can find time. Just remember why you came to college--did you come to work or to make the most of your education? If you do work in college, keep your hours under 15 to keep your GPA up.

Most universities recommend hiring students on campus but you can get a job off campus as well. At the moment, I go to a university full time and I work off campus full time as well. No problem, there is no such thing difficult. Everything is possible to get done, as long as you put your mind into it.

This is a very open ended question. Are you undergrad or grad student? Are you going to a small town or a large metrapolis? What is your major/minor? Is parttime job extremely important while the school is in session or could you find any fulltime job anywhere during summer, save enough for the time when the school is in session and have minimum of student loan? Check out the location, talk to your advisor; discuss your specifics with those willing to listen and provide some input. But, most important, don't give up.
Anything is possible, but even more important is education and having degrees that will be stepping stones for your future advancement.
Good luck.

The adults that you are talking about would like nothing more than to get a full time job that pays more money than McDonalds, but the problem is there are no jobs. Because of the recession, major companies are cutting back on costs and that includes staff. Professional people are being made redundant and the only jobs they can get is jobs like McDonalds, Burger Kind etc. This may seem unfair to you but these adults have bills to pay, children to feed and houses to keep. You have you parents financial support, as a teenager you are still dependent on your parents to a great extent. These adults don't. They support themselves. They are not taking these sorts of jobs to annoy teenagers or stop teenagers getting jobs, they are applying for these jobs because they can't find full time better paid work because of the recession. It doesn't matter how much experience they have. We are in a recession. Experience doesn't matter in a recession. And even though I can see where you are coming from when you call it "our jobs" - you don't have any more right than a 40 year old to work in McDonalds. Jobs go to the best person for the job not someone because of their age. And I'm only 18 myself so I'm not being biased or anything. Another reason to give an adult a job in McDonalds instead of a teenager would be the fact that teenagers go to school and can only work certain hours, whereas if McDonalds takes on someone older then they can be more flexible on the hours they work. They can give more service to the business than someone who can only work a couple of hours in the evening because they are still at school.

Many students work part-time jobs during college. Some scheools may have part-time jobs open for students and sometimes they will make recommendation but most often you have to do it the old fashion way. Get out visit the malls, look in the want ads etc.

If you are a work study on campus, you are more likely to have a job that will fit with your class schedule.
It may be more difficult to find a job off campus that will be schedule-friendly.

It is not hard to get a part time job when you go away to college. When you get to the college that you want to go to you have to look around the town or city to see what is out there. You could also see if the college has any jobs that you could do. Also colleges have employment offices that you can check out to see what they have.

some students get jobs on campus and some dont. It just depends on your preferences. You cant rely on your parents for everything and you have to make that car payment somehow.
