Yes !
If you shout at others you will also be shouted back.
If you smile you will be greeted with a smile.
Know that karma theory is just "You shall reap what you sow".
People who pick on others are a pathetic lot. The theory of probability will catch up with them sooner or later and they will be met with the same attitude. No one is invulnerable in this world.
The idea is to maintain our inner tranquility always. Why should i sulk if i feel insulted? That happens because i rested my faith on someone else.
I trekked to Himalayas alone, thinking that I will be able to seek god when i am truly alone. But wherever i went i was greeted with love and respect.
It is impossible to describe the love i received from people who are monetarily poor but very rich in love.
Even in deep jungle i found friends.
To believe in oneself is to be truly happy and successful. But that requires a course in discipline.
Confucius teachings has been my favorite guide so i will add a bit of him here -
Tzu-chang asked Confucius about humanity. Confucius said, "One who can practice five things wherever he may be is a man of humanity." Tzu-chang asked what the five -are. Confucius said, "Earnestness, liberality, truthfulness, diligence, and generosity. If one is earnest, one will not be treated with disrespect. If one is liberal, one will win the hearts of all. If one is truthful, one will be trusted. If one is diligent, one will be successful. And if one is generous, one will be able to enjoy the service of others."
and...
"In private life, be courteous; in public life, be diligent; in relationships, be loyal."
Anyone following these principle cannot come to harm is my experience.
Let us experiment with life... its fun.

I think karma does exist. Whenever someone does good they always get rewarded some way or another. When people do bad things bad things happen to them yes, maybe not right now but later on someway they will get punished or taught their lesson. Remember you might not see them getting hurt but at the end everyone gets what they deserve. A great story is of Al Gore. He always did things for the environment and tried to bring global warming into everyone mind. And he succeeded. By doing this great deed, he won the Nobel Peace Prize. :-)

The thing about karma is, people who believe it in also believe that individuals are reincarnated. For example, if Individual A is mean to Individual B in Lifetime 1, Individual A may get their comeuppance in Lifetime 2 (or 3 or 4 etc). So, they may not get their 'just desserts' this time, but will later.

It exists to an extent. One one side of the spectrum there is fate, which means that some things are pre-decided. On the other side of the spectrum is karma, which means you get what you deserve. Evil or cruel people, more often than not, are punished by karma. But they are also punished by fate.

I'm the same way...
I would like to believe in karma, but I don't know. I think a lot of people are that way.

Do the tectonic plates think of who's bad and good when they come crashing into each other causing death and calamity. Don't make me laugh. They don't worry about fate, destiny, pre-ordained life or Karma. To think otherwise is irrational.
Good and bad things happen to ALL people based on randomness, acts of nature, Murphy's Law and other predictictable or logical reasons.
