I want to be a teacher?

I have been changing my mind about carreers quite frequently and Im still young (15) but deep down inside I really do know what i want to be but instead I lie and say what others want me to be like a doctor or lawyer I cant deal no longer I know I want to be a teacher I dont care if there pay is low I think that it is a very rewarding job and I know I will enjoy it and I really want to do this but my question is all my teachers dont seem under payed they seem well off or should I say dependent upon themselves living in Orange county while teaching in Los Angeles and there sharp clothes and there nice cars and I know most of them are married and there spouse can help them out a little but I hear its low paying what can i do on the side that can take care of my necessary needs Or should I not worry does being a teacher pay enough? I livin California and my grandpa says that the trash man earns more than a teacher but i dont care :)

I think you should follow what is in your heart. I knew I always wanted to be a teacher, but teachers actually told me I was too smart for it. So I planned on going to law school. I took the LSATs, decided against law school, got a job in publishing and the salary was even lower than teaching. I finally went back to school to become a teacher and I'm glad I did. It's a tough job, but it's a lot of fun; every day is different.

Teachers actually make fairly good money even in California. Some states and regions make more money than others and the more further education you get the more your salary goes up. You are right that many teachers are married and that may pay for the nice clothes, cars, etc.

I would strongly recommend it.

Prepare yourself for the stress of teaching by starting now to volunteer with youth in your area. Find out all you can about teaching and what areas you might be interested in.

The pay is far from commiserate for the work expected... that is the money. But in spite of the stress, the policing, the low amount of respect... the joy of it is quite rewarding (for some).
There will be those teachers who have reached burn out and cannot think of anything good to say.

If your heart is saying do this, then perhaps it is God speaking to you saying this is the way I've prepared you to go, and this is the way in which I want you to influence and impact your world.
Just go out there and give it your best effort.
There is more to life than money.

the big part you want to consider about teaching is the stress which can kill you or rob you of your health. Teaching is only 2nd in stress to air traffic controller, so it is a very very very taxing job and you spend 90% of your time policing, and now adays, probably 99%, I taught and it is rewarding but if you want to do it right, it is almost impossible these days because the kids are so unruly. That is one opinion. and no, teachers are way underpaid and also elem teacher take about the first 2 weeks of summer sleeping to recover and then start preparing for teaching again about Aug. 1st. Ask some of you local elem teachers and go be in the classroom

Sometimes I think of being a teacher, and it is very rewarding, you get to interact with students and besides, for every year that you teach and the higher diplomas you have, the higher your pay. Being a teacher brings many good things. I have always wanted to be a teacher, and you know what, theres more than that, you can be a principal

follow your heart it doesn't matter how much money you make unless your happy doing what you want to do everyday you know since a career is mostly for life anyway when you enter college you are allowed to take many courses and during that time you will be able to realize what is best for you according to the courses you take and whether you like them or not just keep hope things will work out for the best who knows maybe will your in college you will have an awesome sign language professor and want to become a speech therapist it happened to me :D and i love everyday of it!

I'm in that same situation. I'm 15 too, and I've always know that I want to be a teacher, but I always tell other people something different lol. Don't worry about the amount of money you make...you'll be fine! :)
