when should i throw out makeup applying sponges?

i bought a 12 pack of some sponges to apply my liquid and powder foundation.

and recently ive heard they carry bacteria and oil like crazy!

just wondering how long i should use them before i change it out. also, i bought a compact powder thing and it came with one of those poufy cloth appliers...(ive never had one like that) and ive heard those are horrible, how long should i use that before i chunk it?

haha yeah i got mine from cvs for about 2 bucks. theyre foam applicators.

and i wear make up almost 7 days out of the week.

If they're the type that can be washed out with soap and warm water, you can let them dry and re-use them until they start falling apart. If you can't wash them and let them air dry, it's better to throw them out after you've used all available sides once - those things DO breed bacteria and could cause acne you wouldn't normally experience.

Throw out the sponges after one use - they are full of bacteria.

I use the poufy cloth applicator till the compact is empty, but I wash it with hot water and antibacterial soap about once a week and let it air dry. If you don't like that, you can buy packs of disposable foam powder applicators that you can just toss.

And remember, wash off every trace of makeup before bed so your pores don't get clogged.

I wash my makeup sponge every day and after a week, I throw it away and use a new one. As for the powder compact, when it looks really dirty, you can new ones at the Walgreens or any grocery store. I'm pretty sure CoverGirl sells them in a three pack.

for the sponges you can use them 2-4 times , depending on how quickly they fill with makeup.... once you cannot see anymore white on the sponge then toss it and get yourself a new one, i dont know where you got yours this time but you really dont need to spend a large amount of money on them, you can get packs of them at places like walmart, target, or sally's beauty supply..... as far as the powder puffs go, i would use a large makeup brush instead, they will deposit the makeup more evenly on your skin and you can wash them every week (if you use only on yourself) wash it with warm water and a small amount of shampoo, they also sell great brush cleaner at places like mac that is relatively cheap for the amount that you get.....

I'd say 1-4 months (I do about 4 months myself, but I don't wear makeup every day)

wash weekly with antibacterial soap or alcohol

don't discard after each use! What a waste!

Depends if you put makeup on everyday. I'm a stay at home mom so I don't put make up on everyday. I throw mine out every month, sometimes earlier depending on how much I use it. I don't put makeup on every day because your skin needs some time to air out so to speak.
