Has anyone been on a Sydney harbour New Yrs Eve cruise with Eve harbour cruises? I've been looking at this one bcos the cost seems reasonable @ $350pp (incl buffet & drinks), compared to others. Anyone have any other suggestions? :)

I also have 6 friends interested in doing the cruise, so want to make sure we get good value for what we will be paying!! Also we don't want the hassle of fighting thru the crowds to see the fireworks...which is why we thought of doing a cruise instead.

I'd be happy to offer some advice in this area. I've been running a charter company here in Sydney Harbour since 1982 and we have assisted thousands of people in that time bring in the New Year watching fireworks on the harbour.

Some of the things to consider when planning/booking a cruise are the following:

What does the package include? I.e food, drink, music, etc?
Are there any extra charges?
Is the vessel safe and clean with a professional crew?
Which wharf will the boat be picking you up from?
What time will you need to be there?

On NYE, these last 2 considerations are very important due to the congestion on the roads. If you are on the City/Eastern Suburbs side and need to get to North Sydney for example, it will take a long time to get there.

Same also for after your cruise. If possible, I'd recommend driving to the pickup point and parking nearby as it is very hard to find a taxi after midnight.

I hope that helps.

Regards,
Michael

Make sure for that price that you get both sets of fireworks. There is the early display for kids and then the midnight show to see the New Year in. $350 a head is a bit steep but the demand is very high so they can charge what they like. Book early as they always sell out very quickly.

Lucky you. I was in Sydney in 1985. That does sound like a reasonable expense. Enjoy!
